I am super busy working on a wholesale order this week. I always get so many ideas at the last minute, it is some of my most creative time. Doing wholesale has been a great help with the focus part of my work and design. I have things more planned and it helps me focus. I did just move my studio to a new location in my home last week, so the focus is a little cluttered right now. I will have new images of my studio soon. This photo below is a little sample of my current collection. I am combining screen printing, with applique and embroidery(hand and machine). Also this client wanted all items with house/home themes. I try to make each one a little different (since I use some reclaimed fabrics) it can be a challenge to make each piece of art unique but also work as a collection. How do you stay creative, without being distracted?

It seems like things come full circle. I am back to blogging, I miss it so much. With all that has happened in the last two years I am glad to have a new direction in my life. Still creating but in a different way. Just finishing an order to ship. I hope you will follow me in this crazy creative life.

In staying with my Monday Mood look this week. I have been looking at independent clothing designers and thinking about my own dressing and making things for myself to wear. Summer always seem to be a challenge with my own style. It is so humid here in the South, and we are near a the beach so it is very casual. But I love fashion in a personal style way. I like to dress interestingly and with most summer style it is not a little more difficult, since we wear less.
These pieces are from Homefrocks in Santa Fe and in a similar style of the inspiration board.
This is just a great casual but stylish way to stay cool in the heat.

I am finally getting to post, it can be a little tricky with tornadoes and all. The print show opening was good, not quite what we had expected, but we were competing (we found out) with two other outdoor festivals and the first sunny Saturday in several weeks. Thanks to all the artist and supporters who helped with this event.
On Monday our town (Suffolk, VA) was hit by several severe tornadoes in a few hours, we did not have any direct damage, but the whole town is really in shock and now recovery mode. Mother nature can really show her power.
I am still working on the new materials (printing)
and will have a major upgrade to my shop and blog coming over the next month.
For now I am going to be clearing out a lot of my stock at the
Gallery to make room for
the great new items.
I will be adding things all this week at great prices.
As you can see many different styles to choose from in this group.

I finally have some new items in my shop. I have not had as much time as needed to keep it updated. After the next few weeks, I am changing my schedule and it should make things a little smoother. I am getting ready for a presentation tomorrow, this is the third one I have had to do in the last six weeks and I will be glad to be finished. We really have to juggle many jobs when we work as independent designers.
It is good to be sorting and organizing my studio. I found this print fabric and it goes well with my own printed designs. This color palette is working so well for me. I still have several designs on the cutting/drawing board. It looks like another busy week.

This is an attempt at printing fabric. It is a made with cut stencils and printed by hand-the weed design as well as the graphic on the olive green cotton. I enjoyed the screen printing class, although it was very basic for me. I do feel like I will be able to use it to speed up some of my overall repeat motifs. Printing on the linen and cotton is so interesting, I love the texture that the fabric add to the printed design.
I am working on the screens now. Some new prints coming soon.
This piece will be added to the shop soon.
